Craigslist (stylized as Craigslist) is an American classifieds site featuring jobs, homes, sales, wanted items, services, community service, gigs, resumes and discussion forums.

Craig Newmark started in 1995 as an email-to-friends list of local events in the San Francisco Bay Area. It became a web service in 1996 and spread to other communities, beginning to expand to other cities. in the United States and Canada in 2000 and currently covers 70 countries. Self-promotion quickly increased subscribers and posts. There were no rules, and Newmark was surprised when people started using mailing lists for non-event posts [6]. What they are looking for is the best way. It has added job categories. Added user demand category list for other categories. Early technology faced some limitations. Thus, by June 1995, Majordomo was installed and the “Craigslist” mailing list was relaunched. Community members signed up for “craigslist.org”, began demanding the Newmark web interface, and the site went live in 1996.

It was abandoned in April 1999 when Newmark was replaced by another organization called the “List Foundation”.

Craigslist was founded in 1999 as a private, non-profit organization. During these events, Newmark realized that the site was growing so quickly that he could quit his job as a software engineer and devote his full attention to running Craigslist from his April 2000 San Francisco apartment. Newmark’s Go has nine employees.

In January 2000, current CEO Jim Buckmaster joined the company as chief programmer and CTO. Buckmaster was involved in the multi-city development of the site. Search engine, discussion forum, flagging system, manual posting process, homepage design, personalized categories and best features of Craigslist, he was promoted to CEO in November 2000.

The site expanded to nine more cities in the United States in 2000, four in 2001 and 2002,

and 14 in 2003. On August 1, 2004, Craigslist began charging $25 to post jobs in New York and Los Angeles. A new section called “Gigs” was added on the same day, where low-cost and unpaid jobs can be posted for free.

In March 2008, Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Portuguese became the first languages supported by Craigslist. As of August 9, 2012, there are Craigslist sites in over 700 cities and regions in 70 countries. Some Craigslist sites are larger by region than by region.
